Two helpful tips for sun protection

The heat wave has reached Germany. Unfortunately, many employees can only enjoy the sun after work. The problem is that many underestimate the afternoon sun and therefore damage their skin by not using enough sun protection. HelloFreshGO is providing you with 2 tips how to optimally protect your skin of the sun rays.

Summertime is sunshine

With this beautiful weather, many employees go straight from the office to the beach, riverside or lake. Of course, everyone wants to enjoy the last rays of the sun and not everyone is going on vacation during the summer (how to return smooth back to the office from vacation).

Carrying your bikini, bathing suits and towel, they are lying in the bare afternoon sun. And this is where you have to be careful. The sun is shining directly on the bare and unprotected skin. Sun protection? Well, why? After 4 pm there is hardly any intensity left- that’s what most of the people think. At home, the disaster becomes quite obvious: a deep red sunburn. „Well, that’s gonna turn brown tomorrow“, the sunburn is often underestimated. But it’s a fact. Every sunburn increases the risk of skin cancer. If you think about this, many are treating their health too careless. With a few tips, you can easily protect your skin and your health from dangerous sun rays.

  1. UV radiation impacts all day

Many people avoid the direct sun during noon as it is known to be the strongest. The sunshine is a little bit weaker in the afternoon and evening but the UV rays who impact skin cancer and skin ageing are still quite intense. Especially, the afternoon sun should not be underestimated. If you leave the office after work you should still put sun protection on. Also, if you are avoiding direct sun light any lying in the shade, keep the the UV rays in mind. A face cream with sun protection factor is a „must“ all year long. Whereas the rest of the body is protected by longer clothes,  your face is always exposed to the sun – during summer and winter time.

  1. Natural sun protection by eating certain food

A good diet can also help your skin to protect from sun rays. Some foods have certain minerals and vitamins that can increase the ability of the skin to protect itself from the sun as well as help healing sunburn. Here is a list of all the superfoods:

  • Salmon: The fish is rich in Omega 3 fatty acids which protect the skin from free radicals that are caused by the sun. Eating a lot of salmon increases the time that your skin can bare direct UV rays without any protection.
  • Spinach and carrots:  The green leaves are packed with antioxidants. These avoid sunburn and skin cancer. The same accounts for carrots.
  • Almonds: The nuts are rich in vitamin E which helps the sun to protect from damage caused by UV rays. Therefore, almonds contain quercetin which prevents skin ageing. This component slows down the ageing of the skin cells, as it helps to build collagen for the skin.
  • Tomatoes: Tomatoes are a great source of lycopene. This is a nutrient which is produced by plants to protect itself from environmental and UV damage. This nutrient help human to minimize sun burns on their skin.

If you use sun protection also in the afternoon and eat well, you should get out there and enjoy this beautiful sunny weather.
