Company’s Snapshot

In 1975 Jürgen Liebisch founded the company of the same name for the sale of automotive spare parts. What began as a small company with two employees has developed into a medium-sized family business with more than 100 employees that operate worldwide.

It currently comprises several thousand items in over 100 product groups, such as door locks and sensors. The company supplies its customers with spare parts from the ultra-modern European high-bay warehouse in Glinde on the eastern outskirts of Hamburg, which was newly built in 2016.

The motivation

Employees are looking for successors in the canteen

Jürgen Liebisch GmbH is located in an industrial park on the outskirts of Hamburg.

In addition to a few snacks, the canteen in the neighbouring company was for a long time the only way to have a warm meal at lunchtime.

With the news that the canteen will no longer be operated from 2022, the need for an alternative catering option arose.

But it shouldn’t be a new canteen, but rather a flexible, healthy and varied range of warm lunches and snacks that appeals to both administrative employees and warehouse employees who work in two shifts.

The initial situation

Healthy breaks are becoming a permanent fixture

It all started with an employee from the accounting department became aware of the Berlin-based food tech start-up HelloFreshGO during her internet research.

In May 2021, Jürgen Liebisch GmbH started a three-month test run, after which the company conducted a survey among the team: Should the food vending machine stay? The result was clear.

The vast majority were very satisfied with the new offer and did not want to do without their beloved “Freshie”.

THE GOAL

“Team spirit” is not just an empty word for us.

Jürgen Liebisch’s goal was to provide a flexible catering solution for their offices that would align with their three top values: high quality, innovative and traditional.

The challenge and solution

Rush hour for
wraps, bars and co.

Administrative staff on the one hand, warehouse workers in two-shift operation on the other: as different as the activities of the two areas are within Jürgen Liebisch GmbH, so are their needs and tastes.

With regard to the menu selection for the HelloFreshGO Smart Fridge, the company decided at the beginning of the cooperation to initially include and test a wide range of both meat-based and vegetarian dishes.

Salads, wraps, bagels and sandwiches were included as well as main meals, desserts and small snacks such as bars and crisps.

It was precisely this variety that was very well received by the employees, so that it was not necessary to adjust the assortment at all.

The results

Freshie today?

Positioned on the ground floor, directly in front of one of the two common break rooms, the Smart Fridge brings administrative staff and warehouse employees closer together. Those who get something to eat from the fridge meet like-minded people – especially at peak times in the morning, at midday and in the afternoon.

Twice a week, a new HelloFreshGO delivery arrives and the food vending machine is refilled. If you don’t arrive on time in the morning on these days, you have to expect that your favourite snack will already be out of stock.

In summary, the switch from canteen to vending machine proved to be a courageous but thoroughly successful step for Jürgen Liebisch GmbH.
