At HelloFreshGO, our goals are and have always been towards the better good of the world, humanity, and making the workplace – wherever it is – a better workplace.

Our employees are contributing every day to our mission of revolutionizing the way people eat at work – forever. With such high ambitions comes high responsibility for the society and the planet. And we take this responsibility seriously in every aspect.

Let us give you a quick overview of how we at HelloFreshGO, approach sustainability, some of our achievements, and how we want to help shape the whole industry with the most ambitious sustainability goals ever imagined.

At the core of our efforts, we are focusing on three areas of sustainability

  • Reducing greenhouse gas emissions
  • Reducing food waste
  • Development and usage of sustainable packaging

We have already been able to achieve significant reductions in emissions by optimizing our transport routes, demand planning, and keeping the supply chain as short as possible. Our goal for the next 18 months is to reduce or compensate all of our greenhouse gas emissions, becoming CO2 neutral in 2021.

HelloFreshGO is the lowest ‘food waste’ option in comparison to eating at home or at restaurants. Additionally, we do (social) good with our “food waste” by donating to local charities and institutions, in contrast to the amount of food trashed and wasted in private households and out-of-home consumption. Our goal for the next 18 months is to reduce the trashed food waste to 0% by using smart technologies for forecasting and finding a social purpose for whatever remains.

Establishing the best menu and product selection is paramount, but equally important to us is the packaging. We use the best recyclable materials available for our packaging and are already leading the industry with the lowest plastic use per meal. Wherever possible we use recycled paper or other sustainable packaging. Our goal for the next 18 months is ensuring that up to 80% of all packaging is made from recycled materials and 100% of private label packaging is recyclable, reusable, or refillable.

In addition, to these specific goals on reducing emissions, reducing food waste, and usage of sustainable packaging – we are also focussed on sustainable sourcing. We choose suppliers who are committed to organic ingredients, sustainable logistics, and banning slave labor.

What we have achieved so far is groundbreaking for our industry. The impact we have on the world will last for generations. That is why our goals at HelloFreshGO are ambitious and first of its kind in the industry. Goals that every player in our industry has to strive for and should adapt as soon as possible.
